During hypnosis will I be unconscious?
When you have been guided into the hypnotic state, you will remain completely aware of what is happening, and in control at all times. Most people report simply feeling deeply relaxed. You may not even feel like you've been hypnotized; however what you will notice are changes in your behavior and attitudes following a session.
Is hypnosis a type of mind control?
Hypnosis is not a type of mind control. Because you are always aware of what is going on, you cannot be given suggestions you don't like or don't want. If you were given suggestions you didn't like, or that went against your sense of ethics or morality, you would simply reject them. For a suggestion to be effective, you must actually want it to work.
I'm concerned I may say or do something embarrassing, or reveal secrets.
This misperception usually comes from having seen or heard about a stage hypnotist. While stage hypnotists are actually hypnotists, stage hypnosis is pure entertainment. Private hypnosis sessions designed to help you make positive changes in your life are very different from stage hypnosis. In addition, since you remain completely aware of every thing that goes on, there is no danger of doing embarrassing things or revealing secrets. You are always in control.
What if I don't emerge from the hypnotic state?
No one has ever gotten "stuck" in the hypnotic state; it simply cannot happen. If the hypnotist should leave the room or stop speaking for some other reason, one of two things would happen; you would either fall asleep and wake up naturally, or your subconscious mind would detect that there was no longer a voice guiding your session, and you would return to you normal waking state.
Is there anything I can do to prepare for my first hypnosis session?
